Story

The person known to us as the Green Lantern is actually one of many. Our Green Lantern is a co-guardian of Sector 2814 on behalf of an interstellar police organization. The Green Lantern Corps has empowered each of it's 7200 members to fight evil everywhere. Earth's first Green Lantern was Alan Scott. The "current" Green Lantern is Hal Jordan, but there have been a number of reservists and backups including Guy Gardner, Kyle Rayner, and John Stewart.

Powers

Willpower is said to be the first prerequisite for becoming a Green Lantern. Once chosen, each has been given an actual green, lantern-shaped object. These "lanterns" are powered from a central source back at galactic HQ, but serve as the main conduit to charge the power rings actually worn by Green Lanterns. The power ring allows Green Lantern to conjure any tool or weapon imagined -seemingly constructed out of green light. Among other abilities, the ring also grants flight, acts as life support in hostile environments, and functions as a universal translator of languages.

Weaknesses

Most of Green Lantern's weaknesses have been over-estimated, but they include the following:

  • Yellow objects
  • Plants
  • Wood

Mission

In brightest day, in blackest night,
No evil shall escape my sight
Let those who worship evil's might,
Beware my power... Green Lantern's light!
