AK Comics
From Encyclopedia Superheroica -the Encyclopedia of Superheroes
AK Comics presents a number of interesting Middle Eastern superheroes.
Contents |
Background
Given that most comicbook publishing would appear to have come from the United States and given that the United States has a relatively small proportion of people of Middle Eastern ancestry (0.42 percent of the U.S. population), perhaps it is not surprising that, thusfar, Middle Easterners have been such a small minority in the reported superhero population. AK Comics, publishing out of Egypt, attempts to adjust perspective by presenting a group of superheroes with entirely Middle Eastern origins.
Characters
- Zein, the Last Pharaoh
- Aya, part lawyer, part vigilante-detective
- Jalila, protectoress of the City of All Faiths
- Rakan, superstrong survivalist
