Background

Given that most comicbook publishing appears to come from the United States and given that the United States has a relatively small proportion of people of Middle Eastern ancestry (0.42 percent of the US population), perhaps it is not surprising that, thusfar, Arabs have been such a small minority in the superhero population. AK Comics, publishing out of Egypt, attempts to adjust perspective by presenting a group of superheroes with entirely Middle Eastern origins.

Characters

  • Zein, the Last Pharaoh
  • Aya, part lawyer, part vigilante-detective
  • Jalila, protectoress of the City of All Faiths
  • Rakan, superstrong survivalist
