We've received inquiries regarding our disregard for the term "African-American". Not every African-American is black. Some (like Dave Matthews or Charlize Theron) might be white. And not every expatriate black person in America was born on the African continent either. Don't even get us started on the different shades of pink, brown, etc. As clumsy as language is, sociologists have to use some word to describe each category/subcategory of people and the word we're using here this time is "black". We mean here to refer to people of skin color on the darker end of the spectrum (who aren't exclusively Hispanic or Asian or Caucasian) who perform superheroic deeds.
