They say that you don't get a second chance to make a first impression. This is not restricted to one's appearance or one's manners upon meeting. Not every citizen will get a chance to meet or even see a superhero before that superhero's name gets bandied about. People will often begin to form opinions based on a name alone. Too often though, people are either misinformed or underwhelmed by superhero nomenclature. A superhero needs to seriously consider Shakespeare's warning "What's in a name?".

Most superheroes' names are obvious and relatively complimentary: "Superman" is a man of superior abilities.
"Batman" is a man inspired by (and dressed like) bats.
"Murcielaga" is a Hispanic woman inspired by (and dressed like) bats.
"Wolverine" is vicious like a wolverine.
"Badger" is vicious like a badger.
"Storm" has meteorological powers.
